Two years ago I met my friend, Jareau Wade, who fascinated me when he explained to me his life ethos, rooted in mottoes such as: “with great power comes great responsibility.”
Jareau calls this his “Superhero Philosophy,” and it’s something that I have thought of often, especially when evaluating personal life and career objectives. A life-long comic book fan, Jareau has created a sort of value system based on Spiderman, Batman and Superman:
- Like Spiderman, Jareau’s perceived personal blessings (intelligence and charisma) have led him to believe that it is his responsibility to help others.
- Like Batman, Jareau has dedicated himself to improving, acquiring and developing his skills.
- Like Superman, Jareau hopes to exercise restraint when he becomes “powerful”
You can read Jareau’s full superhero mantra on his blog, Perfectly Ordered Chaos.
My favorite superhero is Batman because of his resourcefulness and abilities; not based on any superhuman powers. Bruce Wayne is a “regular” guy, but he’s got the intelligence, guts and discipline to pursue greatness. He also has really awesome gadgets.
Who is your favorite superhero and why?

It’s a tough call, but I have to go with Superman. He’s the ultimate American Dream — an immigrant who becomes a success when he comes here because of where he’s from. As a Time article in 1988 said, “a hero for a country that believed anything is possible”.
Do I have to make a choice from those three?
I prefer to choose Iron Man… He is much more like Batman, rich and powerful in his town but Iron man has the supersuit to fly while batman only wear boring cape. Not to mention that Iron man has most normal attitude than any other superheroes.
So my choice would be Iron Man…
