We’re going to ‘Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford’

November 16th, 2009 · Victoria  | 2 Comments

Oxford from above. Oxfordshire, England

One week from today, a group of Meltwater employees, including CEO Jorn Lyseggen, will participate in the annual Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford (SVCO) event held at the University of Oxford. 2008 was Meltwater’s first year sponsoring SVCO, which brings together “…Valley-based entrepreneurs, technologists and investors [to] share thoughts about entrepreneurial strategies and insights into disruptive innovations from the worlds of systems, software and the internet.” Some of the big names attending include Biz Stone of Twitter and Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn.

Last year, Jorn held a “Masterclass” on the key traits of successful entrepreneurship. This year, Jorn will be joining a panel with Chris Sacca, Bob Goodson, Reid Roffman, Biz Stone and others. Jorn will also be giving a “Masterclass” alongside Al Bruno, Founder, Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, University of Santa Clara, and Greg Novak, Novak Druce, LLP, titled: “Three Perspectives on Entrepreneurship: Academic, Commercial and Legal”.

Oxford MBA students describe SVCO as the flagship event of the academic term. From my own perspective, SVCO is a fantastic chance to bring the ideas and experiences from Internet technology companies and their founders into the same room to have a conversation with “mere mortals”.

Meltwater representatives will be tweeting updates live from the event. Make sure to follow Meltwater Group on Twitter.

    SVCO sounds really cool.
It’s great to see the leading lights in social media, and entrepreneurship on this side of the pond.
