Tracking Swine Flu Headlines

You’ve heard about it for months. Maybe you’ve been sick or know someone who has.

This morning, the medical software company Cerner Corp. announced its Flu Pandemic Initiative with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The federal government and Cerner Corp. have teamed up to use Cerner’s newly developed medical software system to help track “hot spots” of swine flu outbreaks in order to forecast future developments.

Due to the timeliness of this article, Meltwater thought it would be interesting to run a retroactive report, using Meltwater News, to show the Swine Flu and H1N1 US headlines over the past 6 months.  This historical report shines light on US regions that have had a concentration of Swine Flu press coverage, specifically in the South and the Midwest - an interesting way to identify target areas for future H1N1 awareness campaigns.

Alternatively, Meltwater News can run live reports with “as-it-happens” alerts updating users when breaking news hits, domestic or international.
