Tracking Swine Flu Headlines

You’ve heard about it for months. Maybe you’ve been sick or know someone who has.

This morning, the medical software company Cerner Corp. announced its Flu Pandemic Initiative with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The federal government and Cerner Corp. have teamed up to use Cerner’s newly developed medical software system to help track “hot spots” of swine flu outbreaks in order to forecast future developments.

Customer Service: the concept businesses often get totally wrong. How often have you had a friend or relative tell you of a nightmare experience in returning items/ chasing up queries/ trying to reach an actual person? It seems that genuine customer service has become something of a memory.

Kanye West Interrupts Global Media

If you follow pop culture news, you’ve probably heard about Kanye West disrupting Taylor Swift’s speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

West grabbed the microphone from a clearly stunned Swift, and said: “Taylor, I’m really happy for you…I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”

Criteria for Success

Each August, the new incoming class of Entrepreneurs in Training (EITs) begin their training at Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).

The third group of EITs, the class of 2011, started at MEST this month. Their goal: learn how to start a software company that sells to international markets.

As I looked at these eager new EITs, I realized they were all very excited about the awesome opportunity that lay in front of them. They each had the ability to showcase their skills while proving to the world that talent does exists in Ghana. So I wondered if they also felt a bit overwhelmed…
