President Obama This Week

President Barack Obama arrived in San Francisco Thursday evening to attend a Democratic fundraiser at the Westin St. Francis hotel.  Various groups rallied in Union Square for causes that range from health care reform to ending the war in Afghanistan and reforming international trade agreements.

Meltwater News ran an analysis on the latest media mentions in relation to the hottest Obama-related topics this week.

We took an informal poll in the Meltwater San Francisco office before we ran the graphs, and it was a toss up in the office between which topic would be most publicized.  After running a domestic and international search,…

Tracking Swine Flu Headlines

Posted October 7th, 2009 By NickyD  | No Comments

You’ve heard about it for months. Maybe you’ve been sick or know someone who has.

This morning, the medical software company Cerner Corp. announced its Flu Pandemic Initiative with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The federal government and Cerner Corp. have teamed up to use Cerner’s newly developed medical software system to help track “hot spots” of swine flu outbreaks in order to forecast future developments.

Back in early 2006, I was one of those soon-to-be-graduates that, with plenty of time left in the semester, was already scrambling to find a job.  I didn’t want to worry about the job search post-finals, I wanted to move directly to San Francisco and sustain myself financially, and I wanted to reaaaally enjoy my final months at UC Berkeley knowing I had a job in the bag.

Perusing the Cal Career site, I found the Meltwater News posting for International Management Trainee International – I love that, I had studied in Spain, I speak Spanish, and I get a kick being around…
