I was sooo close to ditching the Meltwater interview. Standing in a hallway high in a center city Philadelphia hotel, I was pretty sure I didn’t want to work for anyone who made me wait around for 20 minutes—I didn’t even know why I was there in the first place.

With Meltwater since June 2006, took a world tour with Meltwater News through Silicon Valley, Philadelphia, New York, Buenos Aires, most recently landing in SF to help build the MW Communications effort.

Back in early 2006, I was one of those soon-to-be-graduates that, with plenty of time left in the semester, was already scrambling to find a job. I didn’t want to worry about the job search post-finals, I wanted to move directly to San Francisco and sustain myself financially, and I wanted to reaaaally enjoy my final months at UC Berkeley knowing I had a job in the bag.
Perusing the Cal Career site, I found the Meltwater News posting for International Management Trainee. International – I love that, I had studied in Spain, I speak Spanish, and I get a kick being around…

I’m one of those people who often over-thinks things. I constantly analyze everything going on in my life: Why am I feeling this way? Am I happy? What could I be doing better? My boyfriend said this or that– what does it mean? You know how it is… or maybe you have a friend like this: they come to you for advice to talk about something seemingly trivial, but of course it’s a huge deal to him/her at the time. That’s me. (Shout out: I have great friends. Thanks ladies!)
